time lapse here......sorry

Well..it has been a bit since I posted to this site...lots of things have changed, been sold, been purchased.

Lets see....iFlites...we still have a rainbow of colors on hand, and there is only one iFlite II left (in green if you are interested)....

I was lucky enough to get my hands on a Cuben Hawk designed and made by Doug Stoat of Falcon Aero Designs.   You may remember him as making a handful of sport kite models in the 90s...well Doug is back and is working with Cuben Fibre material in his "sofa kites"....   Doug is working on releasing some plans for some of his xUL active flyer kites....The hawk is one of them....smaller than an iFlite but highly engineered and that cuben fibre material just makes it look soooo techy....

Sale on Longbottom Angels! The Large and Medium Angels are marked down.   They are beautiful  3d kites that float in the breeze.    Also Karl made up some Tangram flyers for us too.....sort of like the traditional 3 stick Bermuda style kites, these have been tweaked for better performance and appearance.
There are also only a couple of 6-81s left from Karl as well.   If you are looking to expand your xUL active flying kite bag and want something a little different than the 6-81 is for you!

There is a new kite that will be hitting the pages soon.....the Ginga!   Yes, we have had the plans provided from Christophe for some time now, and they were the plans that you could scale to make a couple of different versions of the Ginga.   Well, Christophe made up a new size for us!   The small Ginga is designed for travel and to be carried around.   The same great flight, but in a more portable size!
There is one caveat with the small Ginga though.   If you are lucky enough to get one (there are only 5 available) you will have to film you flying it and upload it to youtube!   Share the flight!!!!!

Okay....bit of an update here but there will be more to come too...

IF you are in the New England area we will be at the Newport Kite Festival this weekend...down at the old flying grounds of Brent Point State Park in Newport, RI.   Swing on by and say hi!

Good winds to you all!

Coming up on the holidays!!!

Are you ready for the glut of shopping in big box stores full of aisles of the same items?
How about turning that effort into supporting your small shops around you instead???
Black Friday is looming, and lots will be appearing at the doors of the big stores before the break of dawn....but go and find local stores and support your community!
Check out Small Business Saturday for business's near you that are taking part.

You can also order online from us any day of the year!
We are chock full of special single line kites and great deals on some used kites - you would be surprised what is in the Yard Sale!

We are fully stocked up on the new favorite the iFlite kites.   Grab one of Robert Brasington's fantastic pieces, a fun and active flyer from Karl Longbottom, a one of a kind Ty Billings creation or a one of a kind painted piece by Scott Hampton or Jacques Letourneau; there are lots of options ready to ship.

We wish you a wonderful holiday season, no matter where you are!

We are back, and have new kites to offer!

Karl Longbottom makes a fantastic Brazilian Pipa fighter kite....so....
we got some of them in....
and in the box were some of his newest design..the 6-81!
Now, you do not get to know what the name is from/for until you buy one ;)
But, the 6-81 is a great xUL active single line kite.   Packs up small so tuck it into that Prism hard case that you have your Revolutions in (or violin case), and be able to fly anywhere.
This is a great addition to the xUL single line family of kites.
Grab one while you can!!

Check these both out over at the website.

Good winds!

Found it!

The Karl Longbottom Owl is the perfect kite for any night fly you have coming up!
It looks a lot like a barn owl with its disc face; but has the most endearing owl-ish eyes you have ever seen!

This kite flys in a great variety of wind too!
The wings are a modified Yakko wing shape where the wingtips (upper and lower) and tethered together and the wings blow backwards in the wind.
This blowing backwards is a great part of its design since it can then shed off excess winds! (and at the same time create the effect of the wings flapping).

Previously we have done a special order for Karl's Owl so if this guy interests you please contact us and we can get you one!

Now get on out there and FLY!

More updates! Softgoods and kites too!

Getting ready for the holiday season the site has been updated again!
More kites and softgoods have been added.

Yes, you read that correctly:
Windswept Kites has softgoods (those soft things you wear)!
Eye Fly T-shirts from Lafney Studios!!!!

Kite flyers from the New England area who have been around since the 1990's know these shirts!!!!
This small lot is original stock so get them while you can!

Also, the new craze over in the UK is for flying ripstop dinosaurs.
Karl Longbottom has created a phenomenal new kite:

These guys are absolutely a hoot (yes a HOOT) to fly in low to no wind conditions.   They can also be flown in higher winds - just with not as much finite control.
Karl and Sara fly a train of them as well and they look great!
We have them in random colors so definitely ask for your color choice!

There is another box of Pterodactyls on its way right now from the UK (it also has a special order kite too-always keep that in mind; we can get it for you!), there is also about to be another box of kites from Gill Bloom as well.

So, keep a weather eye turned to this blog for updates.

Also just an FYI to all:
The Yard Sale is getting smaller by the day!
So, if there is an item there that interests you better grab it quick!

Good winds to you all!

Karl Longbottom's workshop kite-The Swan

As a special order i got in a kit of Karl's swan kite. A popular workshop kite that he offers. Lots of parts for this fantastic kite! But at the time of this order there did not exist written instructions for it-previously you only got the kit at a workshop with Karl standing over your shoulder hollering out direction s (no not really-I hope). So Karl and Sara got me a disc with 23 photographs and 5 pages of written instructions and about 7 diagrams on how to assemble this kit. If you are interested-I can get more kits and all the instructions are found here:

Karl has been working on a neat kite lately- a reproduction of a Salmon 18 wing. About a 100 year old design. Want a neat one-of-a-kind kite? We do special requests!

Longbottom kites

Wow
We have a good amount of kites in our collection-but there are some kites that you come across sometimes that just make you stop and stare at it...
Our latest shipment includes kites just like that.
We are very happy to be working with Karl Longbottom from the UK-even more so because of his amazing and intriguing designs that fly so well.

I am in awe of these kites.

Simple as that-just amazing.....

The Boxes are arriving

A box from the UK and a box from New Zealand arrived at our door on Friday when we were both home sick with the flu-do not worry the kites and such are clean ;)
keep an eye peeled for the items on the website...

Decoys.....gotta love the little guys

well they are loved....so much so that there is only one left....those decoys were from Scott Hampton's tucked away group that he used every once in awhile for a art show/festival....
well....
i talked to Scott this evening....there are NO MORE......

If we are lucky we might get Scott to make some new ones (personally i am hoping for his fish decoys to come back-but we will see)....

There is one little birdy left in our tree
and he is saying "who will come buy me?"

but on the bright side we will be offering up another banner of a bird persuasion very very soon....(just as cool in my book -if only for the fact that these are like 2 or 3xlife size)....

add to the list!

So Windswept Kites is now the distributor of kites made by Karl Longbottom of the UK!
You might have seen a picture of a pair of Y-Fronts (whitey-tighties to us Yankees)
flying up in the air. Well those were Karl's-well hopefully not the ones that he had just been wearing? I guess the fact that he also has flying womens Panties does nto help that question. Well, none-the-less he does have lots of flying underwear/undergarments/skivvies what ever name you call the most personal of clothing. So, bring back the days of your teens (or jump into them if you are younger) and toss your under wear up into the air and watch em fly!

Karl and Sara modeling

Now, Karl does not JUST make underwear kites. We are also getting a few of his new Angel Kites. Keep checking in for a sneak peek of them too!

Check out Longbottom Kites for more of his offerings as well-anything that you ask for we can get!
